Slingbacks and Syrup - Immortality Awaits!!!

posted Monday, 19 November 2007

If you were at our Cider Sippin' Revue, you learned about the documentary that our good friend Russell Dreher is making about The House of LeMay, Slingbacks and Syrup... here's what he's saying about it...

I am writing to tell you about “Slingbacks and Syrup”, a documentary I am making about The House of LeMay, the Burlington based comedy performance team. “Slingbacks and Syrup” will be the first full length film that I have created from start to finish, and it involves numerous people from Vermont you may know including Bob Bolyard, Mike Hayes, Johnnie McLaughlin, Matt Viens, Craig Hilliard, Alex Ball, Bobbi Pritt, Syndi Zook, and many more.

“Slingbacks and Syrup” is currently at a critical point in its creation. The footage of the performances of The House of LeMay has been collected and the interviews have been conducted. Next, all of this material (well over 30 hours of footage) needs to be edited into a 90 minute tale of one group of underdogs and the journey they have taken through life to bring laughter to their community. The post-production phase of a movie is a tough time for any film, involving editing, reshoots and re-edits, color correction, sound cleaning, marketing, festival submissions, and many other activities.

As you are no doubt aware, making a film is a very expensive project. Even low budget films can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and often, many of those costs happen during the post-production phase of a film. Each of the post-production activities I mentioned above can costs thousands of dollars to complete and without support from many sources, some films never make it past this phase.

Your support will mean a lot to this project and to me. As I am working very hard to keep costs on this project to around $20,000.00, every donation small and large will make an impact on the project. Whether you opt to give $100.00, $1000.00, or even more, you will be making a significant contribution towards the completion of this film.

“Slingbacks and Syrup” is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions in behalf of “Slingbacks and Syrup” may be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. You may make your contribution online at https://www.fracturedatlas.org/donate/1256 or by sending a check made out to Fractured Atlas with “In behalf of “Slingbacks and Syrup”” written in the memo line. Checks can be sent to Russell Dreher, 200 W. 20th, Apt 304, NY, NY 10011.

Thank you for your generous support.

Russell

P.S. Without the support of my friends, this project would not happen. I very much appreciate everything you have done to support my artistic career over the years and your continued support as I complete this project.

So far, aproximately $2,000 has been donated... if you'd like to help out... you know what to do!!
