The Inauguration of Obama

posted Tuesday, 20 January 2009

Hey Y'all we have us a new President of the United States. We are all gathered around the TV here at the Edna St. Vincent LeMay Laundromat, Library, Comm. Center and now Lint Museum to watch history take place and do a load. Amber went to Burlington, so I am sure that she will be bringing some pictures back with her. We are all happy to have a new leader.

Goodby Bush!

Well I have go now to get ready for our Ball tonight. The Beaver Ball.  Love, Lucy...

Yep, Lucy, I was in Burlington... WOW!!!!  Here's the press release we sent out...

To commemorate this historic day, Amber LeMay, founder of the League of Drag Queen Voters  (official motto - "Don't Blow It - Vote!"), attended the Inauguration Party held at Nectar's in downtown Burlington, Vermont.  The event was hosted by Democracy for America and Vermont Daily Briefing.

Nectar's is world famous as the spawning ground for the band Phish and for serving vats of gravy fries to the citizens of Vermont's largest city.   Democracy for America is the organization founded by former Vermont governor and former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Howard Dean.  And every political junkie in New England is aware of Vermont Daily Briefing.

Ms. LeMay, also a founding member of The House of LeMay - Vermont's oldest most established drag performance troupe - commented, "It's been a long eight years.  And if it takes me having a cocktail at noon on a Tuesday to make the change official, I'll do it."

It was a great day... everyone had a sense of... relief.  My official escort of the day was Craig... when we got there at 10:30, there weren't any tables available, but... there was Annie sitting up front, by herself... she made room for us (and fries, too!).

Jana was our waitress and kept my Vitamin V fresh.  There were all kinds of people there... but everyone was in such a good mood!!!

The press was there... Eva Sollberger of Seven Days and Ross Sneyd of Vermont Public Radio spent some time with me...

Aaron was also in popular demand... not only for people to order drinks and food, but by the press as well.  That's Sam Hemmingway of the Burlington Free Press on the left and VPR's Ross on the right.  Aaron will also be in demand for Drag Ball when his band Funk Wagon opens up the Ballroom!!!

Our host, Phil Baruth!
We had great seats... right in front of the screen.
Aretha - LOVE the hat... And no, Obama... THANK YOU!!!
More paparazi!!!!

And of course while downtown, I HAD to stop at Old Gold...
