Comedy Open Mic at Higher Ground 3/30/08

posted Monday, 31 March 2008

On Sunday, March 30, 2008, Amber entered the Higher Ground Comedy Open Mic Night.  It was Hosted by Alex Nief, Amber liked him. We had a great time as always. Amber had them laughing along with several other contestants. It is always fun at Higher Ground.

And as it is commented below not a night without some "excitement."  But hey, if you can't take it, don't dish it out!

Maggie needed her Higher Ground hug.  Our buddy Bob called ahead and reserved us a table - up front and center, much to the chagrin of the younger-less-experienced entrants.

From left to right, host Alex Nief and two HG employees were also in the show, Liggy showing off his disco ball and... damn it, I can't remember her name... but SHE was funny!!!

Two of the other contestants were Kevin "The Big Kahuna" Colacchio (right) and Roger Miller Ibelow).  Obviously Kevin hasn't heard of the horizontal stripes rule.  And no, Roger didn't sing "King of the Road."   Although he was the winner of the last HG comedy contest.

I saw Amber Lemay (and the house of Lemay) last night at the open mic comedy at higher ground. You girls gave those little boys a run for their money. I loved your performance and was inspired to find out more about your group. My family and I moved here from Portland Oregon in 2005 and miss having drag queens in our life. I will be sure to stay posted and we will be at your next event. The homophobia last night was so prevalent, I felt like I was in the fifties. Thank you for being there and reminding straight culture of how far they have to go. You girls sppiced up the evening for me and hopefully educated some young men. Keep on keepin' on! your new fan bitsy
