Burlington takes full advantage of the warmer weather by hosting as many festivals and events as possible from now through September. Is there a better place to have a "staycation" than right here in BTV?
Most of these events need volunteers - and if you volunteer you could get a nifty t-shirt or entrance to events for free. Click on their website for information.
If you're a runner or a runner-lover what better course could there be?
June 5-14
(Have your speakers turned down if you click on their website.)
The Music Festival Guide calls this one of the Top Ten Festivals in the World. Wow! Jazz is ALL over town, inside and out, day and night, cheap/free or $$$.
June 13
It happens all over the world - not on the same day - and this is the fifth time for Burlington. It is what it sounds like. People riding bikes naked - or near naked. I rode in it in 2007 and 2008. And probably will again. It's not just about nudity, it's about protesting use of oil.
June 22
It's opening night of the 2009 season of our Single A major league baseball team. The action takes place at historic Centennial Field - the oldest facility in the nation used for big league baseball. It's cheap, it's fun - a great night of entertainment.
June 26-28
A great way to spend an afternoon, evening or night on the waterfront. And even a greater variety of food and music for all ages. More tokens, please.
July 2-14
BURLINGTON INTERNATIONAL WATERFRONT FESTIVAL
Something like this only happens every 400 years or so as this coinsides with the "Vermont Celebrates Champlain" activities celebrating Samuel de Champlain's first visit to the area. To see a list of the events, click HERE.
July 17-18
30 craft breweries from all over the northeast will be at Waterfront Park for two days of "tasting" and entertainment. You'll want to order your tickets on-line as there are advantages (early entrance). But don't "taste" and drive, please.
July 25
It's a BIG year to celebrate in Vermont and the world. It's been 40 years since Stonewall and, of course, the passage of marriage equality . Organizers plan a week-long celebration culminating with a parade and party on July 25.
More events will be added at a later date.
