BobTown #12 - Chew Chew Now Leaving the Station

posted Friday, 26 June 2009

Aww, man.  One of my favorite summertime events is having its last hurrah.  The Green Mountain Chew Chew is pulling out of the station for the last time this weekend.  So go through that dish on your dresser and pick out all of those tokens you have from years past - 'cause after Sunday they're going to be worthless.

The conductor of the three day food/music festival, Rick Norcross, has decided twenty-four years is enough and wants to work on other projects.

The Chew Chew started out on St. Paul Street, between College/Main Streets and City Hall Park.  For two years it was in a parking lot where the Filene's store (now Macy's) was later built.  And then it moved to Burlington's beautiful Waterfront Park.   Actually, it was the first festival to be held there.

So, don't eat for a few hours, head on down to the waterfront, buy some tokens and pig out.  Click on the link above for a schedule of the music and other activities.

It might not be next year, but I can't help but think that SOMEONE will come in and if not continue this great event create something similar... please?

A LOT of our pictures/posts come from Burlington and our good friend Bob, so we've decided to let him loose on his favorite city and give him his own section of our blog... we'll call it BobTown.   Most of the time it won't have anything to do with drag or gay stuff or even him... just stories about... BobTown.   We get a lot of hits from all over the world - probably from people who want to know more about Vermont's Queen City.  Maybe they're future tourists or they're thinking about moving.   You locals may learn something, too!  Enjoy!!
